College Essays and Applications Camp

July 8th– 12th
For girls and boys going into their junior or senior year

Camp Description

In this week-long class, students will receive formal instruction on how to brainstorm, plan, organize and write essays based on the Common Application prompts. We will discuss the types of essays that have worked for students in the past; then students will use the processes we have discussed to compose and edit their own essays while conferring with the teacher along the way.   If time allows, we will also start preparing student resumes for college applications. Product:  By the end of the week, students should have 1 – 2 completed essays and a work-in-progress resume.

Instructor

Kathy O’Brien

One of the most difficult chores for most students (and parents!) is applying to colleges and writing college admissions essays. Ms. O’Brien has over thirty years’ experience teaching students how to organize and write essays.  She has been teaching at Brook Hill for eleven years, and she currently teaches AP Junior Humanities. For further information, please feel free to contact her at (903) 894-5302 or text/email to kobrien@brookhill.org.
